A Lee Bamber Game
Author: Lee Bamber Team: Digital Ninja
Playtesting: Samuria Sword alias Christopher X alias Chessmaster alias Pleb
Date Started: 01-Mar-93 Date Finished: 10-Mar-93

The best things in life are free
Welcome to DN`s first Public Domain Release. Soon to be one of many games,
which find their way into your disk boxes, free of charge. The games I`ll
find myself submitting to APD is the games I always wanted to write on the
C64 but hadn`t the time, nor the experience. The larger, more complex and
time-consuming projects I`ll offer as shareware or licenseware, as reward
for the long hours put into them.
I must confess though, goodwill isn`t the only motive for this game. First
and for-most, Digital Ninja Development Team gets a big credit, which is
always welcome. And secondly, the intro included on the disk give you the
chance of seeing what else DN have created and hopefully the chance of one
more person purchasing them in the hope that they find one to their liking
you see.
I do appologise for the lack of music for the origional AMOS Owners, but
after using the AMOSPro MED Music commands, it`s hard to comply with the
restrictions of Tracker and AMOS Music Modules.

Instructions
As so many people have pointed out to me, with games that require little or
no explanation, it is pointless to waste time describing what to do. So for
you out there who NEED to know what to do, read on.
The Title Page
The title screen can be left by pressinng the fire button on your joystick
to load the Game Preferences Section.
The Game Stuff
The Game Preferences Section serves two purposes, firstly to choose between
one and two player game. And secondly, to show the joystick directions to
control your sword fighter.
[] One Player Game - By selecting this, you will control the fighter on the
left side of the screen using joystick port B. Many users will know this
as the port normally accomodating the joystick (Port A used for mouse).
[] Two Player Game - By selecting this, you have the chance of fighting a
second player using joystick 2 (Port A), while the origional player uses
joystick 1 (Port B).
When you have selected the option (by moving left or right), press fire and
you will be taken to the arena.
[] Joystick Direction - Below the player selector boxes, a range of moves
are displayed showing the actions responding to movements on the joystick.
The actions assume that the player is facing Right. When the player faces
Left the responding actions are also reversed horizontally. When the fire
button is pressed, it is dependant on whether the player has a sword or not
as to what move is carried out. If no sword is present, the diagonal high
move would be a punch. With a sword, it would be a High Stab. Similar
occurances happen with other directions. The special acts as a kick with
no sword and a head-chopper with the sword. A sword may only be thrown if
another sword is carried to continue attack and to pick up a sword, simply
duck at the position of the sword.
The Arena
This is the place in which both sword fighters battle it out, regretably to
the death. The fighting matches last until one of the fighters have lost 9
times. On this count, the victor will be awarded the ultimate mortal prize
of immortality.
The doorways to the arena are defended by controlled spikes which will be
pushed forward and backward by unseen slaves to spear the clumbsy fighter.
The best advice is to get used to the fighters and their methods. A good
combination of moves may prove completely invunerable to counter attack.
